Counterpoise

Counterpoise turns ballet toward women’s empowerment: poised legs at rest, matte black that sharpens line, stillness that holds the memory of movement.

Counterpoise

Continuing her exploration of the leg as a vessel of power and poise, Princen composes figures in Counterpoise that recline and cross, exchanging flight for stillness. The knee becomes a pivot, the shin a beam, the foot a soft counterweight. Light skims the surface and disappears into the black, clarifying contour and volume while preserving intimacy.
